What is Pilates?
The Pilates technique (or method) is a low impact workout suitable for all levels that lengthens and stretches all the major muscle groups in a measured way. It improves flexibility, strength, balance and body awareness and focuses on strengthening the core (abdominal muscles) while balancing the muscles to create better alignment.
Often injury, pain or discomfort comes from imbalance and incorrect muscle strains and movement patterns. Pilates works towards creating a more harmonious relationship between the muscles and joints thus relieving a lot of general aches and pains. It tones and strengthens the body as a whole and is fantastic for getting back into shape or maintaining a healthy physique.
Once you embark on the Pilates journey you will start to feel stronger, taller and more energised within a few sessions. Your body awareness increases and your posture improves leaving you feeling lighter and more confident.
How does it work?
mg Pilates offers both private and semi-private studio sessions, with no more than three people in the semi-private sessions, as well as mat classes seven days a week and shorter lunchtime classes for just $10 on Mondays, Wednesdays and Thursdays.
Taught by our expert team of instructors, who between them have over 100 years of experience, our aim is to help people achieve their goals, from general fitness, strengthening, toning and balancing, to helping someone walk/dance/climb again, and everything in between.
